In May 2023, Pharmly & Friendz Pharmacy opened its doors with that very idea. It was not born out of a textbook business plan or even an investor pitch deck. The pioneers saw a deep need, a real gap in the community. People needed a place where healthcare wasn’t as cold or complicated. They needed faces they could trust and shelves stocked with what mattered the most.

The name says it all: Pharmly & Friendz. It’s because that’s how they see everyone who walks through their doors: as more than just customers. Each person deserves respect, care, and honest service.

What goes on behind the counter? At Pharmly & Friendz, every shift is designed to put people first. At any time of day, there’s a pharmacist and a nurse on duty, ready to listen, guide, and make sure customers get exactly what they need. Customers are welcomed warmly, assessed by the pharmacist to understand their needs, and supported by a nurse or pharmacy assistant who helps with prescriptions and purchases. A security personnel greets you at the entrance, and the atmosphere is designed to be friendly and reassuring. This is a team united by a shared vision to serve the community—and expand that service to more communities in the future.

Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing at the start. In a space dominated by big-name pharmacies, convincing people to give a new kid a chance took a lot of grit. Some people walked in, looked around, and walked right back out…literally! But instead of folding or even thinking about it, the team leaned in. They asked questions, took feedback, implemented initiatives, and improved the quality of service and product offerings. It didn’t start to bloom immediately, but slowly, trust started to build, one recommendation came after another, one “thank you,” one smile at a time.

Now, the pharmacy shelves are full, and the amazing thing is that it’s not just with medicine but also with skincare, groceries, toiletries, and a growing collection of essentials people genuinely need. 

The June 12th Outreach is one of Pharmly & Friendz’s signature community initiatives, launched in 2024 to give back while raising awareness about preventive care. On this day, the pharmacy sets up canopies outside, partners with health professionals like eye specialists, and offers free medical tests to the public. Those who need prescriptions can then purchase their medications directly from the pharmacy. Over the last two editions, this outreach has reached 100+ people, combining community service with a warm invitation to take health seriously. The outreaches aren’t just events; they are a promise. “We’re here. And we care.”

The pharmacy is not stopping anytime soon. Plans for a new store in Lagos are already in motion, and a digital upgrade is underway to make getting help even easier. Instagram and WhatsApp channels are up and running; Facebook is being rebuilt. No hype at all, just honest growth.
